  • Safe shelter when it counts. For women and children escaping violence, the Second Stage Housing program offers a haven of privacy and support, giving families a chance to rebuild in safety.

  • Dignity for seniors & persons with disabilities. Over 30 units exist to help older adults and individuals with disabilities stay close to family and friends in their community— where they belong.

  • Affordable housing for all. Whether single, a couple, or a family, low-to-moderate income residents might not qualify for full subsidy—but your support helps fill the gap, sustaining homes and hope.

  • Sustaining local dreams. This isn’t just housing—this is a foundation for health, belonging, and community engagement. Every household stabilized means stronger neighbourhoods.

Why your gift matters:

How your donation is used:

We commit to transparency, accountability, and love in action. Your donation is directed toward operational costs, furnishings, wrap-around supports, and program expansion—not excessive overhead. Because home is more than four walls—it’s the stability that allows people to thrive.

Our Services

  • Second Stage Housing

Elk Valley Family Society’s Second stage housing is a private, secure, low-cost apartment unit where you can live safely and independently for 6 - 18 months. Staff are available to provide emotional support, safety planning and referrals.

Chrysalis House is a second-stage housing program serving women and children fleeing/at risk of domestic violence and homelessness. Since its construction in 1998, Chrysalis House has provided safe housing for women and children in transition; however, unlike most second-stage housing programs across B.C., it has never received sustainable support funding. Despite this, the need for Chrysalis House has only grown and the complexity of clients’ needs has increased dramatically. We thank you in advance for your support.

  • Housing for Seniors and people with Disabilities

For many seniors and people with disabilities, finding affordable and stable housing can be a challenge. We offer over 30 units of safe, affordable housing in Fernie and Sparwood to help seniors stay in their community, close to family and friends.

  • Affordable Housing

Affordable rental housing is for people who have a low-to- moderate income but may not be eligible for subsidized housing.
